" Cat Walk at  Ekbatan "

Today, more than any other era, life and arts are in a direct confrontation. Therefore, artists who value this direct presence pursue areas of art and concepts that have the closest proximity and familiarity with our shared daily experiences. Sara Mahdian, a graduate of fashion designing from Saint Martin’s University in London, in of those artists who are looking for the direct relations between the lives of the audience, and hence, uses clothes as a medium in order to express her views. Since its establishment in August 2012, it can be cited that in Mahdian’s studio, clothes shape an actual image of the concepts that are pursued in a smart way—in elements and details alike.

Exhibiting the collection " Cat Walk at Ekbatan " is a simple event that cannot be ignored. At Modam Concept Store, the border between art and design is removed. This takes place through projecting clothes as art works and consumables at the same time and displaying them on the grounds of the Concept Store where, due to its products and location, is an evident indication of its presence in the middle of the daily life. All these call us to be curious about displaying these works, because it is as if this collection is exposing itself and stands on our way—just in the same manner as the streets cats.

" Cat Walk at Ekbatan " retells the tale of the street cats. However, it does not use the street cats as a pretext for publishing a clothes design collection. On the contrary, putting such a collection out wishes to be the reason to speak about affection towards animals, and to pave the ground for collaboration among the advocates of such views. " Cat Walk at Ekbatan " is a personal account of a fashion designer of the street cats in Ekbatan neighborhood. She is seeking to draw our attention to the beauty of the safe and domestic lives of the street cats, who come in all colors but belong to no particular race; cats who experience a better life only because of the love and affection they receive from the human beings. With a collection embracing clothes having an air of fantasy and luxury, she translates the street cats experiences in an aesthetic expression and sets it forth (like a hat with one ear on its that demonstrates the case of animals who have lost a part of their body due to violence against animals).

Developing a feeling of support and affection towards animals, particularly cats who cohabit with us in the cities, is that very shared experience and simple notion that has been shaped in this collection. A notion that reminds the simple and beautiful fact of amiability to animals.
