" CLOTHES FOR NOT WEARING "
As an obvious tendency towards any possible consumables, minimalism demonstrated itself in different platforms for creation in the 20th century, towards the end of which it turned into a permanent form in whatever which was produced. This inclination in form is not only visually attractive, but also is coherent with the philosophical stream of thought behind it; simpler things are often better understood and more reassuring. The artistic origin of this orientation lies in 1960s and in painting. Following its emergence, it involved various grounds such as sculpting, architecture and music and eventually opened its way to the design world. Fashion is one of the latest areas in the few past decades that has been profoundly touched and impacted by this all inclusive predisposition. It was never confined within the graphical snip cuts loaned from the Bauhaus School; instead, it moved towards simplifying the structures in order to show the quality of the materials and their behavior in the face of human body form and motion characteristics.
The present exhibition is a joint movement for creation within such an arena and around the concept of clothing. With their tendency towards divergence from verbosity and convergence to cost effectiveness and simplification—sometimes at the extremes—the designers present have hidden their creative gestures behind the medium. This way, they have made an attempt in eliminating all apparent or ambiguous cyphers in their heavy battle with the material—so as to allow for the material to be received and understood, free from any tricks.
